Healing Gemstones to Beat the Blues this Winter - Devi & Co

Healing Gemstones to Beat the Blues this Winter

Do the cold days of winter get you down? Every year after the holidays pass, I find myself battling Seasonal Affective Disorder, and I know that I’m not alone! As winter drags on, it’s hard to keep my mindset positive and productive. I yearn for the long, warm days of summer, especially by the time the end of January rolls around.

When I feel myself slipping into seasonal depression, I reach for some of my favorite gemstone jewelry for an immediate dose of healing energy!  Bringing strategic gemstones into my life and using the gems that I have more intentionally are methods that have helped me fight off the winter-time blues.

Gems have been treasured and revered for their metaphysical properties since ancient times, but it has only been in recent days that people have begun to reintroduce the healing qualities of gems into their day to day lives.

Whether you believe in the spiritual significance of gemstones or not, these little treasures can still impact your well being by bringing beauty and calm into your life.

Some of my favorite gemstones to wear to fight off Seasonal Affective Disorder are Rose Quartz, Amethyst, Citrine, and Moonstone.

Rose Quartz

Rose Quartz, besides being my favorite color, is said to promote self-love and emotional healing (https://www.gemsociety.org/article/gemstones-health-benefits/). This pink hued stone can help keep the heart open to love and new relationships. I love wearing Rose Quartz because its gentle pink color truly does remind me of the tender, loving relationships in my life, like the patient and gentle love that my mother and I share for one another, or the sweet and romantic love of my husband.

Amethyst

Amethyst, with it’s gorgeous purple shades, is said to have many healing properties from increasing courage to soothing and calming the wearer (https://www.gemsociety.org/article/gemstones-health-benefits/). Amethyst is such a strong stone, and when I wear it, I feel powerful and ready to take on whatever challenge I may face. I wear my Amethyst pieces when I need to push myself beyond my comfort zone and do tasks that intimidate me.

Citrine

Citrine has enjoyed a surge in popularity as of late, and we are here for it! This yellowish, earthy toned gemstone is said to increase positivity and promote abundance (https://www.americangemsociety.org/the-healing-power-of-gemstones/). Let’s be honest, who isn’t trying to manifest more abundance!? For me, citrine represents the sun and warmth, so when I put on this stone, I automatically feel positive and energized. I like to wear Citrine when I’m feeling tired and run-down because the bright and sunny gem helps revitalize my energy levels.

Rainbow Moonstone

Rainbow Moonstone has to be one of my all-time favorite gemstones. There is something so mysterious and alluring about the flashes of blue and green inside of this snow-white stone. Rainbow Moonstone is said to increase creativity while fighting against depression and anxiety (https://www.gemsociety.org/article/gemstones-health-benefits/).

I wear a Rainbow Moonstone choker everyday as a staple piece, and I love knowing that the gem is helping me stave off those pesky winter time blues.
